Well, your kid did better than me. I grabbed the knife anyway and accidentally cut my finger almost off instead of slicing the orange. Thankfully, my mom was trained as a nurse and held the dangling part of my finger back to the rest of my hand. Also, the hospital was really close only 3 minutes away from home. In addition, my dad drove so mom could apply pressure the whole time. The icing on the cake that I just realize as an adult was when asked what happened I blamed my big brother. I was copying what he had done and he made fun of me for being to young to use a knife.
